Farmers need to stop voting against their own interests. You knew when they voted republican that your migrant workers would be deported.

    Well, being real, if you’re relying on under paid labor to stay afloat, something’s wrong to begin with.

    Blame the system, blame capitalism, blame skewed market forces, blame whatever. But if the only way to operate at scale is to not pay a living wage, that still needs to change.

    My cousin runs a dairy farm, and because he doesn’t use under paid workers, he barely stays afloat. The margins are razor thin. But he can only up his prices so much because the market is artificially controlled.

    There’s no good answers to the problem, but pretending that a system that relies on shitty pay to migrant workers isn’t part of the problem isn’t an answer at all

      Exactly. He’s competing in an unequal playing field. There are actually great answers to the problem: a regular pathway to citizenship for farm workers.
