    And the unions themselves have said that these waivers are good for their bargaining position because they prove how reasonable their demands actually are; if the indie studios can agree to everything without a fight, why are the big guys having a hard time? (Turns out the answer is just greed).

      Don’t forget that the hundred or so independent productions are collectively employing thousands of people who would otherwise be out of work because of the strike (prop masters, costumers, makeup artists, craft services, etc), which in turn reduces their drain on the strike funds, and allows the strike to continue longer. It also benefits those independent studios to both have positive PR for agreeing to all union terms and have an exclusive window where they can release content when no one else can, which will force streamers to agree to the unions’ terms in order to have new content on their services.
