I’m frankly mystified by the fact that Taiwan appears to be letting the core of their strategic defense policy vis a vis the CCP get pretty fundamentally undermined
Taiwan thinks they can appease Trump into actually defending them (strategists predict that the invasion will happen around 2028). Trump likes big beautiful numbers after all, but I think they underestimate his disdain for all the former US allies. He showed time and time again that he doesn’t care about losing “strategic interests” as long as he can find someone else to blame for it.
