Cygwin is at least well integrated into Windows. It does respect and show its native file system permissions, and you can run windows binaries from within cygwin.
WSL is a load of shit compared to cygwin. No surprise, as it comes straight from Redmond.
@trollercoaster It cannot run Linux binaries, it has very poor software support and it’s fork() implementation is horrible hack. WSL (especially WSL1, not WSL2) is based on Native NT posix subsystem (turned to Lxss, Linux subsystem), offering good performance, using native NTFS posix rights, but enabled to run unmodified Linux binaries.
