    What sort of security update needs eight gigs of space?

      Windows updates, that’s what sort. They have no respect for your hardware, budget, or time. It’s always great when they force a restart without even giving you a chance to save your work, or when you’re in the middle of a meeting.

        It’s to make up for their piss poor software and the fact that they have a major security vulrnability every other week.

        My question isn’t entirely facetious. Presumably a security update is a binary generated by compiling code. How much code would it take to generate an 8gb binary? What would that much code possibly be doing? Or are they including an enormous database of some sort? I assume they’re not including video…
