So you didn’t think that Georgine had real issues after learning she is trying to assassinate her brother ever since they were children, was giddy about seeing her mother imprisoned and miserable, poisoned her own daughter for mere convenience, made her own daughter’s life a living hell just because that girl had the misfortune to look like her grandmother, most likely poisoned her husband’s first wife and then him and might well be responsible for the death of her own father as well, all the while allowing an entire greater duchy to fall to ruin in the pursuit of her own selfish goals? oO

Considering how trigger happy the royal family is about Ferdinand, I think the smarter counter-attack would be to have Letizia, rather than him, steal Ahrensbach’s foundation. With her being engaged with Hildebrand and meant to become the next Aub by royal decree, this would be a demonstration of loyalty, rather than easily being mistaken for an act of rebellion. With a couple of Ferdinand’s potions, she should be able to pull it off. And once she’s the new Aub, she can abolish that stupid tradition and return some of her uncles and aunts, like Alstede and Blasius to archduke candidate status, so they can help her maintain the foundation from then on out.

I can understand Georgine hating her mother and brother for being forced to give up being an archduke candidate—after training hard to become one—and get married off to Ahrensbach. Even Rihyarda has sympathy for her. We don’t really know what her circumstances were like in Ahrensbach, she may have had good reason to get rid of the other archduke family members, or maybe she was just broken at that point. But there’s a big difference between taking revenge on the people who wronged you and genocide.

If Letizia were old enough then I’d agree that she’d be best to take the lead, but she’s not even close to entering the Royal Academy. Ferdinand has been building a good rapport with the people of Ahrensbach. I think almost everyone—including Detlinde’s retainers—would prefer him to lead over Detlinde at this point.

Personally when I first read that side story I thought the smirk was more because she gleamed some information from Veronica’s wailing. I was pretty focused on trying to figure out what sort of information Veronica might have encoded or if it was just painting a target on Rozemyne and Ferdinand for Georgine. Didn’t realize it until much later that that was just schadenfreude on her part, so I wouldn’t really blame someone for missing that on first reading either.

With how much you can read into some of the interactions and events, it can be easy to overanalyze a simple smirk.

Letizia doesn’t have a schtappe yet, and no gods’ names.

Oh right… forgot about the schtappe for a moment. But the gods’ names is only needed to cast Entwickeln to create something new, not to sustain something already created, right?

At least with the Ahrensbach bible key in their possession, they have a piece of hard evidence for Georgine’s foul play. Naturally they can’t really use it yet, since Georgine could just claim that Ferdinand was the one who switched the keys. But if they get additional evidence to support their side of the story and put Georgine’s claims into question, this will be a powerful piece in any investigation be the royals.
