lemm.ee has a fairly open federation policy, no? That’s probably a factor. I don’t see nearly that much.

I haven’t had much issue with lemmy.ml tbh but I’m sure if I went looking I’d find something.

They delete comments in critical of the CCP. A couple days ago I corrected someone from there who was lying about something to make the US look bad. A comment said “per the CDC the rate in the US is X” and they misquoted and said it’s ten times as high.

So I said “no it’s x, look at the comment again.” They deleted my comment and left the lie. They also deleted my follow up asking why it was deleted, as well as a bunch of other comments in the thread.

There’s heavy censorship on lemmy.ml in favor of the CCP, I’d be surprised if they’re not running it directly.

Damn, what was their rationale in the modlog?

Bottom of the webui is a modlog, all actions are public.

Ya, and I prefer the open stance but just don’t want to deal with the volume of propaganda. I’m taking the advice to be more aggressive with my filtering.

There’s unhinged folks everywhere. Just stay clear of their instances.

Early on, I think lemmy was dominated by unhinged people, because they used it as a refuge when they got banned from reddit for being too unhinged. But as the rest of us normies migrated over because of the API fuckery, the unhinged people are once again in the minority. I see tankies get consistently downvoted into oblivion nowadays, which is a good sign in my book.

No doubt in my mind we outnumber them at this point. We can’t let loud voices taint this place.

You can block communities you don’t like, that’s just the nature of an open communities. Everyone will be one here.

Obviously if you feel strongly enough, feel free to leave, but no platforms are perfect. I think its better to have these views expressed our in the open where people can comment on it. Even if the poster is too far gone to have their mind changed, anyone who stumbles upon these opinions gets a lot more context around them and can hopefully makes a more informed decision about them. Its actually a lot safer this way.

Ultimately, I agree with less censored stances which is why I picked this instance. I just don’t think it’s good for my mental health to engage in the political banter. I did start blocking some instances, maybe that will help. Thanks for the insight!

I highly recommend moving to kbin or mastodon.

Kbin isn’t exactly a way to avoid lemmy users.
