From our perspective, people with this ability would more likely:

    • age much faster
    • never sleep
    • have extreme levels of social intelligence
    • talk very precisely
    • learn very fast

Why are time-pocket species unheard of in space and magic world fiction?

Hermione had her plot-breaking time turner thing,

      • she’s a fast learner
      • she does talk precisely
      • not sure about social intelligence, but she sure is book smart
      • she probably slept, but she’s one who would stay up late studying something.
      • Based on the movie, she certainly aged faster than Harry and Ron.

By your definition I will confidently claim that Hermione was (artificially) a time-pocket species for a year.

I think Stargate had a couple time-pocket episodes, but I can’t remember exactly. There is also a graphic novel built around a character that stops time with orgasms.

That was it! I couldn’t think of the name, thank you.

        stopping time with orgasms

How ridiculous and impractical that would be, for it would make such a mess every time, both physically and emotionally.

That sounds an awful lot like the Salarians, from Mass Effect. At least 3/5. Probably not “never sleep”
