Canada is home to 390,000 Jews — the fourth-largest Jewish community in the world.

    Sigh

Recognizing the enormity of the issue, Canada’s House of Commons in February 2016 passed a motion, by an overwhelming margin of 229-51, specifically condemning the BDS movement for its “demonization and delegitimization of the State of Israel.”

BDS isn’t fucking antisemitic, looping it in with legitimately antisemitic shit is truly a disgrace because you’re making it harder to call out real antisemitism.

Have you even read the article?

Since then — in Canada — shots have been fired at Jewish schools, a synagogue and community centre firebombed, Swastikas painted on Jewish homes, Jewish university students and faculty intimidated and threatened, Jewish businesses vandalized, and their customers surrounded by angry demonstrators.

Yea, that shits serious, and we need to deal with it… but can we stop painting criticism of Isreal and BDS as antisemitic? You can have legitimate concerns with Israeli foreign and internal policy without being antisemitic.

            Here’s the problem. It isn’t antisemitic, it’s anti-Nethanyahu.

I’m happy to debate the merits of BDS (personally, I think it’s extremely ineffective) but this article that rightfully calls out legitimate antisemitism shouldn’t even mention BDS.

People only read what they want to see. Which is why every comment here conveniently is skipping over the massive rise in hate crimes that Jews are facing.

Yep, that’s sad, this reply literally got more upvotes then my original post It’s sad that people either continue to ignore the problem of antisemitism or blame Israel for it(And not antisemites)

As a Jew I’m used to people finding excuses for making us “less-than”. We must at all times show everyone how we denounce civilian deaths because to everyone, we’re a singular monolith without capacity for original thought and opinion. Otherwise it’s assumed we’re monsters who support civilian casualties.

But don’t talk about the extreme rise of hate crimes against Jews in Canada. Somehow, we deserve it.

This place is no more progressive than Reddit.

I know, I am Israeli Jew and don’t support or like civilians dying too, as well as majority of people I know.

Sadly, this hate only proves how real horseshoe theory further more to me.
