Researchers have developed a new, lightweight foam made from carbon nanotubes that, when used as a helmet liner, absorbed the kinetic energy caused by an impact almost 30 times better than liners currently used in US military helmets. The foam could prevent or significantly reduce the likelihood of concussion in military personnel and sportspeople.
Carbon nanotubes are extremely expensive and difficult to manufacture, especially in volume
So are replacement quarterbacks
And trained NFL-tier brains!
Since first adopters will probably be US military with their unlimited budged, the cost will only affect civilian sectors and by that time the cost should decrease due to scale of production.
If the NFL picks it up, NCAA probably will as well & that’s a few billion dollars worth of revenue generation…
