The hand gestures and bulk are the only parts of this I find objectionable… on-foot. Car guy is just asking for trouble. But he bought a cybertruck, so fuck him.
Slightly goofy sunglasses like an Xreal whatever, plus some touch controls on a smartwatch, would make this downright discreet. Maybe a little fob like the Daydream controller. Even the genius managing his popup windows in the damn crosswalk would not be any more ridiculous than someone holding their phone like a slice of pizza.
