I see that the user numbers quoted on the Lemmy Instance “Fed Stats” page, for this instance (and its apparent sibling) are now over 86K 87K. I’m guessing most of these are bot sign-ups. Is there a way for the bot accounts to be purged, or is there going to have to be a full reset, back to zero users, at some time soon?
I’m a little concerned that some of the larger instances might decide to add this instance to their “defed list”, out of some fear (however valid or misplaced) that the bots could suddenly run riot, and create spam.
Hey there. I was poking around on The Federation and also noticed this instance with 87k accounts but only 11 active users. The new accounts all showed up between Jun 18 and June 25, which fits a pattern seen on other instances. I assume lemmy.podycust.co.uk has a bot infestation similar to what lemmy.ninja dealt with.
