These G3 rifles have been retrofitted with trigger guard shells to help combat the suicide problem they had been experiencing.

more Turkish soldiers died from suicide than combat in 10 years… In the last 10 years, 818 Turkish soldiers were killed in clashes, while in the same period, the number of soldiers who committed suicide amounted to 934.

It should be noted these were issued to rear echelon non combat troops.

Thanks, one of the things I’m trying to do with this community is orientate it around learning. I think there’s an important lesson here about implementing palliative solutions, even if the backdrop is bleak.

If I was one of those soldiers I certainly wouldn’t feel any happier just by having my old g3 swapped for one of these.

You’re welcome! I’m assuming it’s mirrored on the other side? I feel like this could be circumnavigated with a long piece of wire with a toe loop, but there I go overthinking again.

Looks like it. Personally I’m surprised they didn’t put a flat piece of sheet metal on the other side. I wouldn’t have thought they’d care for the left-handed.

Dude looks fuckin’ miserable. A flat sheet of metal might interfere with the tip of a trigger finger? I suppose it could be scalloped to avoid that.
