The in practice analysis seems to be that Biden’s calculating that Israel listening to US diplomacy is worth more than Israel being compelled by international force.

The behind the scenes negotiations the US has been pushing have seen hostage swaps along with concessions regarding the post war situation like Gaza being able to develop their natural resource economy.

Basically he’s using the public image of defending Israel to have more soft power since Israel’s response to international condemnations has been “fuck you I do what I want!” anyways.

but by doing so he is causing lot of damage to his image, american reputation and even to Ukraine. Am 100% against putin but its funny to see him getting arrest warrant for kidnapping ukrainian children while Israel gets pass for killing 17k person of them lot of children and women. It didnt even sign the genieva convension.

It’s definitely a hard call by Biden. There are no right, easy answers to the problem. What I know with absolute certainty is I’d rather have Biden handling the situation than Trump. I don’t like the way it looks and feels, but I know we’re at least doing better than the alternative.

I genuinely can’t see how Trump could have responded to Israel’s actions here worse than Biden. The rhetoric states side might have been more toxic, but Biden has been cheering on the genocide about as hard as anyone could, and doesn’t seem to have any real victories towards peace. I guess maybe they avoided an Israeli ground invasion in Lebanon, if that was actually in the cards?

Less a pass and more a shield of 75 years of “if you disagree you’re an antisemite!” giving the west a flinch reaction

It also doesn’t help Russia’s side of the equation that their response to this is often, “WHY DON’T WE GET TO DO IT THEN‽”
