Biden was emerging from his Delaware campaign headquarters when the car ploughed into an SUV guarding his motorcade

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were rushed to safety by the Secret Service after a car suddenly ploughed into a parked SUV that was guarding the presidential motorcade.

Mr Biden was walking out of his campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, on Sunday night to his waiting armoured SUV when a silver copper sedan hit a US Secret Service vehicle that was closing off intersections for the president’s departure.

The sedan, which carried a Delaware licence plate, then tried to continue into a closed-off intersection, before Secret Service personnel surrounded the vehicle with their weapons drawn and instructed the driver to put his hands up.

Mr Biden was captured looking stunned and froze when he heard the loud bang close by.

Biden is 81, not young but also not mid-80s. Trump is three years younger than him. Why is Biden’s age a problem but not Trump’s?

I’m trying to figure out how an election less than a year away means he’ll be spending the next 2 years running for president

Fascist propaganda doesn’t work when you attack the senile leader of your cult’s mental acuity. I mean, just remember how good his memory is: person woman man camera tv!

Queen Elizabeth II was 96 when she died. Age has no meaning, the individual does. If they are mentally able to act as President then that is all that matters.

I wouldn’t really use her as an example, because she didn’t really have much of a real job that took mental acuity.

Now Mahmoud Abbas has led the Palestinian Authority through nearly impossible conditions and he’s 88. That’s a better example IMO.

The Monarch of England still has a large role in the Government of the United Kingdom, but less of a role than the President of the United States. Still, at 95 she was fully operating and on her game.

      What?

      They both are.

Climate change is a problem too, I didn’t list every issue that’s threatening our country

You’re right. You didn’t list every issue. You just stated what was wrong with one of the two men who are viable candidates and didn’t even hint that the other would have the exact same issue. Seems a little bit one-sided.

Or maybe I’m commenting in a place with effectively zero trump supporters so there’s context?

Seriously, this isn’t reddit. Since exploding heads got defederated, I legitimately can’t remember the last time I saw a pro trump comment on Lemmy.

There’s a shit ton of warning signs that Biden might not be able to beat trump again. And by his own admission he’s not the only one he thinks can beat trump. Like a week ago he said at least 50 others can.

He won’t even say he has the best shot, but he has said the only reason he’s running is because Trump is

Shit like that doesn’t help his chances. But him and his team don’t realize that

Getting mad at people for pointing that out is like burning a woman for being a witch because she recognized an illness that will kill someone or that a bad harvest is coming.

Knowing something bad is likely to happen, doesn’t mean I want it to. I’m just fucking trying to warn people.

Suggesting you are being one-sided is not getting mad at you, and there are still Trump supporters on Lemmy.

And I still say that I don’t see how Biden’s age is a problem but Trump’s age isn’t. Because if those are the only two who have a chance and they are almost the same age, I don’t see why age is a factor.

Great, I don’t understand why you’d still be saying that after I clarified both of their ages are a problem…

Because if those are the only two who have a chance

Biden is the only dem.that has a chance… Because the party leadership unilaterally decided we don’t get a primary.

              That is the issue,

and they are almost the same age, I don’t see why age is a factor.

It’s an issue for both of them.

It seems like instead of admitting that, you’re thinking it somehow cancels each other out…

Which makes no sense. And I don’t see how any more exchanges is going to be remotely productive if that’s your line of logic.

If it’s an issue for both of them, it’s an issue for neither of them. Because they’re the only two who have a chance of being elected. Your clarification didn’t clarify why it is a factor if it both candidates have the same issue.
