Discord?!? Really?!? The Microsoft owned chat app that was at one time primarily used by gamers and their guild/squad/herd? I don’t understand how that would be a viable solution to anything.
Discord isn’t owned by Microsoft, its ownership group has way more Tencent money than Microsoft money. But yeah. For a lot of people when they want to found a community, discord, disqus, and reddit are the three places that do it. Reddit is probably going to bleed more people to discord than the threadiverse at first. I don’t think that will be a steady thing because chat is good for live discussion, terrible for commentary on articles
