Hello

This community has been rather inactive for a long time and probably partly because the community creator and former mod was never active. There’s also no strong CS community on lemmy so I decided to step up and hopefully shape this community into a healthy CS community, because I love CS and I don’t want to go Reddit for my CS fix.

Moving forward I will take a more active role in this community to post content for others to discuss. To focus the discussions I will start by creating megathreads for the bigger happenings in the community. For instance instead of having 20 posts about the HLTV top 20 players that will get little to no comments, I will create a HLTV top 20 megathread to get more a discussion going on.

At least that’s the plan, please do stick around and help me (by posting, commenting and upvoting) help you get this community up and running.

That’s a good initiative, I miss CS content now that I ditched reddit, I hope you will succeed at making a thriving community here! I’ll try to post if I have some worthwhile content

I hope so too. Clearly there’s some interest with different communities propping up on different instances, but they’re all handful of posts with little to no interaction. It’s not really inviting when there’s doesn’t seem to be anyone to talk to. That’s the reason I want to megathread topics, because one post with 100 comments looks better than 100 posts with 1 comment.

What kind of posts would you like to see? I’m happy to post stuff but I’d like to post content that would cater to people and get then to engage.

It’s kind of a bug but not specific to 0.19.2. I had it happen when I first joined. In simple terms it happens when you subscribe to a community but the instance of that community (in this case lemm.ee) hasn’t responded back to your instance (lemmy.world) to confirm the subscription. It might be caused by version mismatch between lemm.ee and lemmy.world but I’m really not familiar with lemmy codebase to really give an educated guess on that.

Anyway it shouldn’t affect you because you are actually subscribed and any posts made in this community will end up somewhere in your feed. If the pending notification is annoying you can always try to unsubscribe and subscribe again as sending the messages again might fix it.

Took a while but I’m properly subscribed now. Any chance you rename the community to simply “Counter-Strike”? It’s also about CS2 and the rest of the franchise, right?

Done. I personally focus more on the competitive scene (and as such mostly CS2) as my days playing CS are over, but I’m not about to stop anyone from discussing anything else about the franchise.
