I’m convinced everyone who thinks it’s a choice is like this man. Or at least they’re the loudest.

My best friend back in the day thought this way. The man could not be any straighter. So I asked him:

"Remember going through puberty? Remember how wildly horny you were? If sexuality is a choice, tell me about making your choice.

What was that like? Cause I was horny for Wonder Woman when I was 5, I just kinda knew.

And why in the world would you pick the losing team?! If you’re picking, just go with the flow and not get your ass kicked."

That worked! LOL, this dude was raised hardcore Southern Baptist conservative. Called me to chew my ass when I came out atheist on FB. Now he’s an atheist lib. Go figure.

Absolutely and completely. I was completely confused the several times people brought up the concept of being gay as a young kid. Not because there was an attraction I was trying to understand, but that I had no damn idea what they were even referencing.

That’s part of how I learned my orientation, and that others are distinctly NOT channeling any universal truths with their religious beliefs.

I got a bunch of family members that say these things a lot. One of them in particular calls back to moments in their youth where they were “surrounded by gay people” and implying that its a “vice” they fell into.

Granted this same family member also blames their former friends for their actual former bad habits (drinking, smoking, partying too hard, wasting money beyond their means), also implying they were forced into them, despite them clearly being envious of people doing them now.

I pity conservatives. They’re indoctrinated to build their own prisons, and elect to stay in them, and HATE anyone who hasn’t build a noose of dogma around their own lives. https://youtu.be/mFxQb-rRzvs Like these gay republicans who just can’t understand why other conservatives don’t see them as humans and want to take their rights, but hey, stop, I’m a republican too that’s not fair!

    it never clicks.

It’s projection. They might not even realize that their struggle with their sexuality isn’t universal and that people who identify as fast are the ones that give in to their desires, that denying having those desires is a lie everyone tells to show how strongly they reject that side of them.

It never really clicked for me like this until just now. They don’t realize they are different from straight conservatives in that regard, just like it might never have occurred to straight people that two people of the same sex might enjoy a sexual relationship if gays never brought it up in the first place.

If you’re conflicted about your sexuality, you’re probably not straight (though with lgbt orientations being more accepted and in some social circles celebrated, it might be the opposite if you’re feeling social pressure to not be straight). What turns you on doesn’t lie.

This unlocks a memory from a long ago time…

… My pastor did a bit on how watching porn makes you gay, because you see the dick. That then makes you get turned on by dick.

Bobcat Goldthwait had a bit long ago about a guy beating up someone gay, saying “I hate you! Cause you’re gay! And I kinda like you…”

It’s certainly not always the reason, but sometimes it sure does seem that some of them are a bit obsessed with something that they say they don’t want any part of.

So you mean that the only church mandated way a man can have sex with another male is by becoming a pastor, a Father, a priest.
