They could have traveled home, turned into lizards, have it reversed, be home YEARS early. And even if it was considered too risky once they get home I’m sure someone, with all of Starfleet behind them, will find a good use for the technology.

Faster tho is just fine because in the last episode of TNG the future enterprise went warp 13. Which, obviously, is why it had 3 nacelles
Just need to set the shields to full lizard-blocking mode.
Except The Doctor was able to reverse it.
They could have traveled home, turned into lizards, have it reversed, be home YEARS early.
And even if it was considered too risky once they get home I’m sure someone, with all of Starfleet behind them, will find a good use for the technology.
