“For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary.”

Abbott said that the “Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other Texas personnel are acting on that authority, as well as state law, to secure the Texas border.”

It’s the Rick Sanchez doctrine. “I was doing what you said: looking out for number one.” “Number One is me, asshole!”

I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3

Now, I’m not a lawyer, and i’m definitely not a texan lawyer, but I have the powers of google, and they tell me that even IF this is an actual invasion (which is blatantly false), invoking this clause would permit texas to “Lay Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War”

So, someone explain to me how any of those powers let Texas do what they’re doing now? I mean, I guess they can literally declare war now, build some warships and get Florida to come with them?

This is going to continue until one side does something the other can’t tolerate, and then it will escalate to a full blown civil war. I wonder where that line is, though, since it’s apparently not “inciting a mob to storm the capitol”. My guess is its when an important person gets killed. Like a senator or higher.
