The article starts out by complaining the Russian Ukraine war is the fault of “the West” for provoking Russia.
Which is flat out b******* since it was an unprovoked invasion and the breaking of treaties on the impetus of Russia.
The article acknowledges that the NATO exercises are ostensibly and practically defensive, but asks you to consider the Russian propaganda that it’s the West’s fault Russia invaded Ukraine, and so the defensive exercises preparing for further Russian invasions are “actually” war.
The main argument is “you see how NATO countries have mutual defense contracts?”
Yeah it’s such a bullshit narrative, it drives me insane that people make some kind of false equivalence between a country voluntarily choosing it’s own alliances vs invasion as well.
Also, it just… doesn’t make sense to me. If you don’t want your neighbours to join an alliance, maybe you need to offer a better deal? But no, instead you invade one of your neighbours, turning the whole region against you and acting as the catalyst for more countries rushing to join NATO.
You have to assume either that whole line of reasoning is bullshit and/or Russia is laughably incompetent.
Maybe there’s some angle I’m not seeing, I definitely have my own biases but this whole argument just stinks to me.
The assumption that the West provoked the Russian invasion of Ukraine in any way is complete fabrication, you aren’t missing anything.
It’s similar to trump crying about a stolen election when he has has been caught committing direct electoral fraud and convincing officials to mail in forged election certificates in an efforts to steal said election.
Bullshit much?

“That’s basically like attacking Russia.”
Fuuuuck off.
