So people are exercising the 1st Amendment right in a way that she doesn’t like and now she wants the FBI to investigate them. All these politicians are the same. Democrats and Republicans.

Polls say something like 60% of all voters support a ceasefire, so I’m sure this ones gonna go down real well with the electorate, Nance.

I’m not sure why you or anyone else would think the ceasefire support and the chance of Russian meddling are mutually exclusive, Russia, China, Qatar, Iran, Turkey, The Saudis, and Israel could all be meddling, it definitely warrants looking into, especially with the tension occurring at the protests, most of them have a history of inflaming both sides, especially Russia.

It’s not mutually exclusive, but Russia, if anything, wants this war to continue as long as possible and the majority opinion (which would, without influence, presumably prevail) is for a ceasefire. If anything, the pro-Israel side would be the one they’d be more active in propping up.

Meanwhile, Pelosi seems to be very selectively trotting out the specter of Russian influence only for the position on which she’s out of step with the populace while ignoring literally every other wedge issue. She’s not calling for pro-Israel voices to be investigated. She’s not calling for pro-choice voices to be investigated. She only thinks an investigation is needed when her centrist political bloc is being criticized, not simply because there’s a divisive issue.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Sunday suggested that some protesters calling for a cease-fire in Gaza could be linked to Russia and urged the FBI to investigate.

I don’t think this is a bad take. Russia will use social media for everything and anything that can magnify discord in American society. I don’t think they care about the morale position of any side as long as pushing the messaging causes internal conflict in the American political conversation.

They’ll also support pro-Israel voices to help sow discord. There is a precedent of them funding both sides.

But as Republicans can freely visit Moscow and wine and dine with Putin, it’ll only be citizens getting the warm welcome of the FBI.

There is no evidence for it whatsoever. People will be investigated for simply opposing a genocide and calling for a ceasefire. Most sane and moral people would oppose a genocide and call for a ceasefire, accusing them of being Russian tools is insulting.

Of course Putin has been planning shit with Iran on the October 7th terror attack. Not even going to waste surprised Pikachu on that one.

One of Putins big grievances was how good Ukraine was handling media. I’ve never seen a conflict being reported on for so long and still engaging people.

Then the October 7th happened and almost nothing about Ukraine after that

Ever since then the Russian troll factories have been running 24/7 making sure the Israel attack is the main focus.

You can easily see the trolls working hard on fx Lemmy. All those users that are talking about how Israel is breaking the Laws of War while not having any comment history regarding Ukraine.

Either a lot of them are trolls or they are people unable to be angry at two bad things at the same time.

So yes, the Russians are working social media hard. It doesn’t matter if you’re pro Israel or pro Hamas to them, as long as you don’t talk about Ukraine.

Because the conflicts are nothing alike, and in the case of Ukraine the US is helping the victim but in the case of Palestine the US is helping the aggressor

So yes, the Russians are working social media hard. It doesn’t matter if you’re pro Israel or pro Hamas to them, as long as you don’t talk about Ukraine.

To over 300 millions Arabs and over 1 billion Muslims, Palestine is very personal in a way the Ukraine isn’t. Similarly for hundreds of millions in the Global South who identify with the struggle of Palestinians against colonialism. But more importantly, what’s going on in Palestine is many times worse than anything that happened in Ukraine.

        * The graphics are a couple of months old, things have gotten much worse since then.

I never claimed that Palestinians are more entitled to anything, not sure how you inferred that. You are accusing me of something western media is guilty of. I do remember when western media claimed Ukrainians were more important than other people.

              Yes you did:

But more importantly, what’s going on in Palestine is many times worse than anything that happened in Ukraine.

You compared the level of suffering (“many times worse”) and claimed Palestinians being entitled (“But more importantly”).

Can you confirm that you agree that Russia attacked Ukraine on the 14th of February and that Russia purposely tortured and executed civilians and on top of that has kidnapped Ukrainian children. Furthermore, do you agree that Hamas, on the 7th of October, targeted and killed civilians in Israel?

This is insulting but a reminder that both parties oppose protests that they don’t like and that the lesser of two evils is still evil. I hope Arab and Muslims Americans are paying attention, the Democratic Party thinks their grievances are a Russian plot.

Ironically, a ceasefire in Palestine wouldn’t help Russia, Russia would rather the US send ammunitions to Israel to massacre Palestinians than send them to Ukraine to fight Russia, but the Democratic Party isn’t exactly smart and is wholly bought by AIPAC.

Absolutely. But why aren’t the pro-Palestine folks not also demanding the Hamas terrorists ceasefire and surrender? It’s strange. Hamas leaders also went to Moscow directly after their initial massacre against Israeli and international civilians. Also strange.
