This only makes sense when I realize that to conservatives, it’s an identity. They think it’s an identity that Taylor Swift should have because she’s (presumably) white, popular, rich, good looking, Midwestern, Christian, etc.
To them politics is not about ideas, or policies, or problem solving, or good governance. It’s all about identity.

But let me be clear.
I’m far further left than the typical us citizen. From over here, the only reason democrats are worth a damn is that they’re better than the other viable option.
I can despise, oppose, and be ready to do what’s necessary to fight against the fascism on the “right” wing. I can do that while also despising the mealy mouthed bullshit of the US left-only-because-there’s-no-real-left-here ideology too. The lesser evil is still lesser, but be aware that the democrat party would be the right wing if we managed to kill off the fascists and the ones that permitted them a seat at the table.
