    There are a few comics in which this is addressed.

    I recall one that shows the lonely Hobbes doll left out in the rain on the corner, and Mom rushing out to grab him before he is completely soaked.

    He absolutely waits with Calvin and then is left behind. I assume Mom retrieves Hobbes daily.

        They were always portrayed as very good (if annoying to Calvin) parents. Flawed like anyone, but generally good and kind.

        Dad and his endless quest to reduce how much gas he used and to try to ride his bike more often were always qualities I saw as positive anyway.

      Oh man. I don’t remember seeing that one before. At least he was under the umbrella. More evidence that Hobbes might have belonged to Mom before Calvin. Although it could also just be that she knows how important Hobbes is to Calvin.
