The more I use lemmy, the more it begins to just feel like all the same problems reddit had. It has the same problems with major communities having far left moderation standards that only apply to the right, the same hive mind users that just spam the same tired out leftist talking points over and over while refusing anything close to an actual discussion.
The only upsides are that downvotes aren’t used to punish you site wide, and the handful of non-leftist instances that exist, though they always end up defederated by all the major instances, effectively making them poor spaces for general discussion.
So what are your thoughts? Is this just the “more like under new management” from megamind? Is there hope for it to become a decent platform for everyone, not just the left?
Edit: yeah, it’s just as bad. Fuck the retarded admins and fuck the left

So there are some one word posts that are definitely trolling you. However, there are others that say “yeah you’ve got a minority position” or “you haven’t substantiated your position” or “you’re on the wrong platform”. I agree with both of those, but you’ve got about a 50% hit rate of just calling them trolls or telling them they are lying. This is your post after all, did you mean only to get answers that agree with you? I think because you set up the perspective of conservative persecution from the beginning, people are having knee jerk reactions.
Idk if this markup will work, but it’s your comment and my quote because I think it goes better here. I don’t think you’ve got a 90% hit rate on trolls, but it is fair to say that the opinions you want to read from users whose perspectives matter to you are hard to find. To cough up examples for you, I’m reminded of minority only study areas / computer labs / clubs that occasionally go on blast, same for various months (pride month / black history month / etc), pride events, drag events: these are all basically the same response to cutting through the vocal and dismissive 90% majority to find other people with the same opinions / perspectives. I guess it does sort of cut both ways w.r.t. conservatives online and antivax or preppers or what have you, but everyone wants to find their “tribe” / be taken seriously in any case.
After a little digging around, I agree with you that hard evidence of T_D brigading is scant. However, the evidence of manipulation of r/all, of amazon reviews, and of “battles” between subs seems to be plentiful. I will admit I’m not familiar with the other subs (ahs srd) and had to look them up. Like I said I’m not aware of dissension-related bans in r/politics, but I am aware of them in conservative spaces so it’s not that unlikely. To my original point, I can think of more explicitly conservative spaces on reddit than I can think of explicitly liberal spaces. I think they got the kid glove treatment just as much if not more as lefty spaces to avoid the perception of being too hard on conservative viewpoints, which trump made a major talking point when networks and sites stopped carrying HIS content.
I might go find your gun post as a gun-toting lefty… and as a side note, lemmy does a really trash job of showing the whole context of a thread so sorry if I’m missing any talking points between posts.
