The former president’s favorability rating has remained low despite effectively clinching the Republican nomination, fresh polling indicates.

Really hard to keep this all straight. I feel like I hear “Trump polling better than Biden!” and “Trump too unpopular to win” all at the same time.

The bottom line is “they both suck”, according to the majority of poll respondents.

AFAIK, they have the lowest approval ratings ever for an incumbent US president and his opponent on the run up to an election.

It’s probably more due to increased asymmetric partisan polarization than anything. The same issue shows in polling on the economy. When Trump was in, republicans reported that the economy was great. As soon as Biden took office, the economy was doing horribly.

Like how Obama was responsible for the 2007 recession despite congress passing laws about it before he was even inaugurated. Two terms later and the country sees record economic growth… which trump then tried to take credit for…

That’s a good point but that’s always been the case, more or less, regarding the economy. I think there’s a bit more to it than that this time around.

Biden’s administration has been landed not just with the post-COVID situation regarding the economy and immigration but also having to prop up Israel’s most bloodthirsty rampage in decades.

And Trump is … /*gestures broadly/ … well, you know.

Trump has never been as popular as the press want you to believe. They push him because that scandalous trash gets clicks and paper sales. We have very few actual news outlets and reporters in the USA. Most of the press is just a glorified tabloid, pushing all the drama and fear they can to make a buck.

Trump will never be president again! Reminder: He lost a CASINO!!!

From 2015 onward, it became clearer like never before that the infotainment industry as a hive-mind has absolutely no impulse control and is enamored with the scent of its’ own flatulences, always desperately clawing for the rush of the ephemeral, nutrition-less fix, minute by minute, 24/7, all the while fancying themselves as “important” or “relevant”.

Social parasites like the kremlin dictator and its’ orange cock holster have exploited these useful idiots, this mindless, addict-like behavior, to the most vulgar and toxic level posible.

Then there’s the murdoch corrosive propaganda network, infowars, clearchannel (or whatever the fuck it’s called nowadays), etc., which are outright psychotic, shoveling excrement knowingly and willfully, weaponizing ignorance and mental illness.

Those polls should have a “would celebrate his death” option. I’d like his feelings to be more hurt if possible.

Yea but that’s just asking to get gamed by republicans.

Instantly every republican would vote in lockstep to celebrate the death of Joe Biden, even nice old ladies with grey hair what cause the news fox told them to.

Then you’d have to get into the weeds with the “both sides” crowd about the differences between republicans hating Biden because he exists with a D next to his name vs someone’s preference not to have the capitol building overrun with smeared shit on the walls in the name of a dictatorship…

All I’m saying, and what I accidentally commented above, is that it seems like the problem is that we keep trying to talk to fascists.

At the very least, I was surprised there were only two choices on that poll.
I guess, with only two parties, only two candidates and with how stupidly divided the US currently is, you only really need the choices “I’d vote for this guy” and “I’d vote for the other guy”, but that doesn’t mean, you can’t have more choices anyways…
