Social security numbers are such a weak system. It is crazy how the US clearly sees the need for a unique identification, but does everything to avoid setting up an actual ID for every citizen and instead is using such a flawed system as a SSN. It was never created to be used like this and everbody is shocked that this keeps happening.

At this point we mine as well use Advertising IDs as we realize our Democracy is really just a Corporatocracy. It would be an easy transition.

But I’m being facetious. To answer your concern, the USG is representative of it’s constituents, and we’re all idiots. If you tried to fix this, it would instantly be labeled as some new type of slavery or at the least a privacy-invasive measure and all Politicians would be out in droves vowing to defeat your Communist agenda.

There would be not a second of consideration of how Social Security is any different.

That’s a nothing burger. You can generate a list of all social security numbers with a minute of programming.

GMA told victims that “your personal and Medicare information was likely affected in this incident,” which includes names, dates of birth, home address, some medical information and health insurance information, and Medicare claim numbers, which included Social Security numbers.

Yeah. My wife has been getting fake medical bills thru text messages wanting payment. Always cross check amounts with your insurance and be leery of any kind of medical bill you received electronically.
