Awesome, this was one of the CDs and then digital albums I had on repeat walking around in my teen straight on into my early 20s.

Black sails on the sunset and others had similar positions on my playlist.

Do you have any recommendations for melodic hardcore these days?

Or what the modern equivalent of AFI is?

Hmm, it kind of depends if you want sound like afi, or if you just want some hardcore in general. It’s near impossible to find anything that sounds like AFI and melodic hardcore flirts with metalcore too much sometimes. I like metalcore too, but I also like the distinction.

      Do you use Spotify?

I am looking for something similar to early-mid AFI, but I don’t use Spotify.

I used Pandora more than a decade ago haha, but that’s about it.

That’s a tough question lol I do have two suggestions though. First one you might already know is Thought Riot - Shattered Mirror Syndrome and for something a little more modern The Ruined - Cry Wolf

Hopefully that gets you started. If you’re looking for the new big band it would be Turnstile, but they’re in a mixed bag from the more hardcore fans of hardcore. I personally like them a lot, but they aren’t like that AFI album.

Very cool, thanks, I’ll listen to all of them. Thanks for the recs

I like expanding my tastes, so I don’t mind melodic tangents.
