I work in frontline management and make sure my morning staff meetings are always 5 minutes. I keep them concise because I even hate them, and I really only need 5 minutes to convey the daily goals and improvements.
Also I live in a legal State, so if any of my team members smell like weed, it was because their roommate did morning bong rips. No questions asked.
I’m sure that’s better than most places, but the vast majority of workplace communication could be done through email and not much would change.
I don’t have to worry about any of it these days but it was definitely an annoyance to have my workflow interrupted just to go listen to a bunch of bullshit that either wasn’t relevant to me or wasn’t important enough to interrupt my day. As we saw during the peak of COVID, much of the office bullshit was just office bullshit.
