That’s because much of the military aid — particularly the money allocated for Ukraine — could flow back to US defense manufacturers. In fact, an analysis of financial aid to Ukraine published in October by the website Breaking Defense found that a majority of the billions of dollars in Ukraine aid Congress had approved to date was ultimately spent in the US.

A Washington Post analysis published in November identified 117 production lines in roughly 31 states and 71 cities where US workers were producing weapons systems for Ukraine — including California, Arizona, Alabama, and Texas. Time reported in February that US aid to Ukraine had created thousands of jobs across at least 38 states.

I’m posting this because I don’t think people realize what’s happening when we give aid to other countries. Usually, we send over our older shit and we make new updated versions. That’s the “ultimately” they’re talking about. Ukraine seems to be getting the new stuff though.

Similarly when we give aid to poor countries it’s paying US contractors to go there and build roads an shit. So it’s really just way for gov to pay ourselves as ‘foreign aid’

Wait a second wait a second, you are telling me that wars make money for American defense contractors? Well that’s good. Those small, independent companies without much influence or representation have a hard time making a buck.

I’m glad that politicians those contractors own, I mean are governed by, had the grace to help the contractors make a dollar or two while making the whole world a safer place.

You have a great point, BUT most people think that the money is going out of the US, when it stays here. What you’re talking about is a whole other bit of bullshit.
