What the cat describes is a co-op business. They exist, not many but they are out there.

Yeah a lot of these “antiwork” memes really miss the mark. Socialism doesn’t mean you get to pick your own working hours either. Socialism doesn’t mean nobody will dig ditches. Socialism doesn’t mean everyone sits around playing video games.

There will still be labor, and there will still be bad bosses and bad jobs. Standing committees and unions generally don’t spend much time worrying about the comfort of the individual.

What an awful post, why are you comparing a business to a government? It’s a invalid foundation for your argument

Yeah the post misses the mark by a wide margin. Democracy affects government, which in turn affects businesses. Democracy does not mean you directly get to pick and choose all things in life.

Clarification: yes, workplace democracy exists. Yes, it would be great to see more of it! Often when people speak of democracy, though, they are talking about a democratic system of government, which does not automatically mean businesses, workplaces, schools, clubs, recreational facilities are also democratic in nature…

So, comic is a little off base still

What an awful comment, why are you under the illusion that your government is running your country as anything other than a business? Your detachment from reality is an invalid foundation for an argument… ¯\(ツ)

No, you get to choose where you beg for work within your local economic zone as most people don’t have the finance to move towards better places opportunities.

Poverty affects peoples health and appearance, appearance affects peoples chances to get hired and health affects your capabilities to remain hired.

Once your desperate enough you will take any job, which the boss will make you feel like you perpetually fail at to break you but never fire you because your exploitation is lucrative. (Naturally this isn’t everywhere but its shockingly common)

after that you will be so stressed and miserable, occupied with raw survival you wont have anything strength left to look elsewhere. No one strives to be a wage slave.

And the workplace structure is the same in every company?

Just because you can choose a different lord doesn’t mean you’re not a serf

Where I live, there’s usually a union rep on the board if the company is sufficiently large - so it’s sort of getting to vote on who your boss is, in a roundabout way.

Eh, you get to choose your boss/supervisor/manager though, and (often through union) negotiate the terms for anything work related.
