Tell you what, buddy, you buy this lawnmeower and I’ll throw in some free scratches on ya face. Do we have a deal?

I really like the idea of a cordless electric lawnmower, but the cost is so prohibitive. My corded electric mower I got for cheap over a decade ago is still going strong.

I have one. The cheapest Ryobi model. It works great.

My yard…s are discontiguous. The front yard is fully separated from the back yard by my house, with only a narrow alley in between that and my neighbor’s house, and the back yard is fully enclosed with a fence. Then we have the “way back” behind my garage and shop, the forecourt to which is completely paved. Many obstacles are in between. Getting an extension cord out to all three locations would be a monumental pain in the ass.

If you need batteries, just buy the knockoff ones from Amazon. They’re fine. The “brand name” Ryobi batteries aren’t any less shit, but the price they try to sell them for is beyond audacious.

I have similar discontinuities, but also plenty of extension cords and outlets.

Looks like Greenworks has cheaper offerings than Ryobi? But I’ll take your endorsement into consideration if and when my corded mower dies.

I dunno. I bought mine because I needed a mower, it was there, and I put it in my car. Competing offerings are available. I have no idea of Ryobi mowers are actually good in any objective sense or compared to others, but I think I paid $179 for it and it’s worked well for me.

Yeah, Ryobi is a low end but good value battery ecosystem for yard tools that also has a bunch of power tool options. Great selection, low price.

So… does that store only sell Stihl tools? Or, do they just order their tools by brand rather than type? Because if so I need to find them and tell them how angry their store makes me.

Stihl typically does their own displays. You can’t mix other brands into their products. They have strict rules on pricing and promotion. If you don’t follow their rules, you can’t sell their products. If you go to any store that sells Stihl, you will find it set up in a similar fashion.
