I have posts appearing on my feed every time I stop to read something and it often gets buried by the sheer amount, much of which is just mirrored content from the red site.

It should be fixed in the next update, but I agree the bug makes the site borderline unusable for now :(

I think we all understand though. The devs are working hard and they’re not many of them. I don’t know how I’d handle dealing with a sudden massive influx of users.

You can imagine too it wasn’t an issue when there were hardly any new posts coming in. One of the many things massive scaling in a short time help reveal!

Looking forward to it. It’s so crazy how the flood of posts doesn’t stop, so I can’t use the new sorting at all. Haha.

You can’t. Only solution is to encourage more people who can program to work on lemmy. It’s mostly built by 2 dudes.

You can even go to page 0, which shows the content of page 1, but without the updates.

That’s a quick and easy fix, thank you!

I made a fix for this and tried reaching out to the owners of lemmy.world, Beehaw, and sh.itjust.works so they could grab it (it’s most prevalent on their instances because of the volume of subscriptions they have) but while Ruud did say he’d check it out no one else responded and the patch isn’t up anywhere other than my instance. I was gonna make a PR but the Lemmy Devs said that they wouldn’t make another release for 0.17 and this issue is already fixed in 0.18.

unfathomably based open source contributor doing something that would take megacorps 1 month to fix just in their free time

Try kbin for the time being as it’s free from this issue. This is mostly why I have migrated from lemmy.world.
