I remember the thread as it happened and only saw this now come up in my local feed: The person in question immediately edited their post with a correction, left the statement up for the correction to have meaning, and publicly thanked the person who corrected them.
The way that thread stands is a learning moment.
This, unfortunately, truncates all that out and just leaves the bad take uncorrected.
