I cant even remember when I last saw a popup because adblockers were made almost specifically because of those annoying things.

I’ve not heard of this project, but it seems quite old at this point. Does this even still have any impact on advertisers anymore? I’d imagine that this would be something that is quite arbitrary to detect and account for, in terms of their ability to track users.

Popup blocking predates adblocking - browsers straight-up ignored that function in Javascript.
This was the sort of simple fix that was possible before an ad giant had a monopoly on the browser market.
