      Thank you for posting links to some points supporting your side of the argument! I would rather have a discussion in good faith personally!

      I think a lot of the downsides are better fixed in other ways though and that relying on life long political animals is a bad practice. I compare it a lot to IT (my given speciality) where yes retention is good but there is a healthy churn to experience new ideas and systems should be built with turn over in mind. Representives also shouldn’t need to be professional law makers IMHO, that is a secondary skill to the primary of representing their constituency.

      Some fixes to specific issues mentioned though to me are:

      1. More members of congress to increase the talent pool (it also increased the cost to bribe a given vote and means reps can cater to smaller demographic each)

      2. Public agencies should be given a lobbying budget specifically to lend their view and expertise on their given subjects to congress. Private lobbying should not be allowed to exceed in time or cost this lobbying.

      3. There should be explicit non-party specific training for rules and procedures for congress members.
