Sen. Bernie Sanders is once again calling for a higher federal minimum wage. The current rate has been $7.25 since 2009.
$17 is too low at this point, nevermind all the inflation that would happen before this ever became law.
Minimum wage should be readjusted to be a set percentage of the cost of living, so it would never have to be adjusted again. It would just follow economic reality.
That’s an interesting idea I never thought of before.
It’s already how it works in many other developed countries, so the US needs to catch up on this one.
Oh yeah? What other countries do that? We don’t have that here in Canada. Seems like it could be a good idea though.
Here’s a good article if you’re curious!
It’s the case in France. Minimum wage is adjusted to inflation every years plus it can also happen during the years if inflation is above 2% compared to the last time the minimum wage had been adjusted.
Or, skip the middling solution and just institute UBI.
Thats an interesting idea.
Isn’t that how it worked before Reagan was president?
Honestly, at this point, stop fighting for a higher minimum wage and start fighting for a UBI.

Keep dreaming. That’ll get so much pushback from so many people with money.

In other words, it’s another election cycle.
