Just consider all the people annoyed by ebikes. Clearly cars are much more sane and rational. I mean what is a few thousand lives compared to some good old fashioned outrage.

Having been there quite often they have become a menace. It’s not really personal transportation ebikes though. It’s a symptom of the lack of any kind of crime enforcement. A large amount of no pedal electric scooters have become the choice for Uber eats type deliveries and they run reds all over, ride the sidewalk, and have even become a major tool in phone/purse snatching.
