Here’s a quick anecdotal dose for you. I was talking to my dad about this, and while this is still a false equivalence, it may shine some light into someone who claims they hate Trump but are voting for him anyway:
Me: “So you’re just okay with a convicted felon holding office? With his talks of being a dictator for a day?”
Dad: “Him being convicted in New York is the same thing as Joe Biden being convicted in Florida with a MAGA judge and a MAGA court.”
Me: “Well it would be if Joe Biden had a business registered in Florida and it committed fraud.”
Dad: “Its the same thing.”
