The Democrat declined to directly answer when asked if Biden has her support.

She’s three years older than Biden…

She also should have been retired a decade ago. And she’s not going to say Biden has to retire because people will say she needs to

Like, these prideful assholes never retire, then have the balls to say no one younger than them has “the experience”…

There’s only so many fucking seats in our government. Younger people can’t get “the experience” because you fucks won’t retire when you should, then you claim you’re helpless and can’t retire.

I don’t know if they’re fucking with us because they know we don’t have a say in it. Or if they really don’t understand they’re causing the fucking problem that they use as an excuse.

It’s like cops when they say “it’s just a bad apple, nothing to do”. They won’t say “throw out the bad apple” because they’re also a bad apple and they want to stay in the barrel

She was at least aware enough to realize she doesn’t have the energy anymore to lead the Caucus, and let someone younger take over the Democratic House leadership. She probably still has Jeffries’ ear whenever she wants, but he makes all the hard choices now.

I am sure that if Biden were to resign tomorrow, President Harris would carve out an advisory role for him. Maybe he can man the Red Phone between 10AM and 4 PM.

We’ve discussed this in other threads, the difference is in expectations. Trump in 2024 gives a better performance than Biden did in 2020, or now.

In fairness, it is a lot easier to sound convincing and give a good performance when you don’t have to stick to the truth. But Trump’s supporters don’t want the truth, they want the convenient fictional world Trump is good at selling.

As anyone with aging parents knows, age isn’t just a number. I have a mother in law in her mid 80’s who is running circles around my mother in her mid 70’s. Mentally, physically, sadly my mom is simply hitting those aging milestones sooner and harder.

That’s not to say Trump isn’t an old incoherent POS, or that he’s not dangerous AF, but Biden does remind a lot of us of parents that have deteriorated pretty hard.

My theory is also that Trump’s loose connection with reality and already weird mannerisms makes it much harder to recognize when he’s losing it. He can just go off on a tangent about sharks and electric boats and people just say “that’s Trump being Trump” rather than “uhhh, grandpa, you were giving a political speech”. If he forgets the next word he was going to say, he just starts a whole new thought about a movie he watched recently or something completely made up, and none of the things he says were factual in the first place, so making a mistake on the details is impossible.

There definitely seems to be a complicated dance going on right now behind the scenes. Most Democrats are going to publically back Biden even as they try privately to get him to leave. But it seems to be members of Congress, particularly from safe seats, who are the most vocal right now. (It surprised me to learn that Pelosi is running again, at the age of 84.) Pelosi can do anything short of killing a puppy and still get elected in SF.

It makes some sense, as Biden is polling significantly behind most Congressional races right now. One would think that means that Biden’s baggage is not affecting those races, but maybe they have polling that indicates that there are several close races that might get a bump if Biden leaves. These Democrats in safe congressional seats will have a much harder time of the next two years if they are in the minority because Biden cost them a bunch of close seats. And, if a Trump victory is coupled with Republicans keeping the House and taking the Senate, who do you think Trump will use his newfound regal powers on first?

It is essential that Democrats keep some check on a future Trump Presidency, and they can’t do that if Biden is pulling down Democratic enthusiasm enough to risk all those close races.
