Apparently the Egyptians used to do this.

The mourning period is over after your eyebrows grow back

      The pharaohs disagree.

Everyone mourns in their own way.

The internet challenges that pop up from time to time (think tide pod challenge as most extreme case) kindly ask you to reconsider tht sentence.

Thank you. I have carefully reconsidered it.

Both are dead, what was your reasoning? That there once was a tradition that did stuff about some other stuff?

              My reasoning for what?

              You’re not making any sense.

i do not. i did shave my eyebrows once though. i had bleached my hair and it bugged me that they didn’t match. but no eyebrows was such a worse look, so i wouldn’t want to do it again. plus i think i’ll need longer than a month of mourning if our cat died.

Oh interesting. Were you worried about bleaching your brows so close to your eyes?

Yes a month doesn’t seem very long.

I can’t find any more specific info on the mourning itself.

Except now I see from the same source that when their dog died, egyptians shaved off all the hair on their body. Huh.

Herodotus too, so grain of salt:

“And in whatever houses a cat has died by a natural death, all those who dwell in this house shave their eyebrows only, but those in whose houses a dog has died shave their whole body and also their head.”

Not on purpose, but here is a tip… don’t use an eyebrow trimmer when drunk, specifically… don’t forget to put the length comb on first.

I think this is a nice piece of history though… they loved their cats and couldn’t GAF about eyebrows

Good tip. I have forgotten my length comb on my clippers before. The bald patch became a very effective, remembered lesson.

I was, coincidentally, less than sober at the time.

Data would look hilarious. I bet her would pick up on this obscure human tradition and attempt it.

I know a couple people who have shaved their brows. Looks weird, then normal. Not irregular, anyway., and I don’t think many people notice half brow vs. full brow on most people.

Maybe I’d notice on this guy with his owl wings:

You contain the bold spirit of adventure.

It doesn’t sound like a crazy idea to me, I feel like there would be a good spot of visceral catharsis involved in the process.
