Aren’t there a shit ton of people that search for them? They’re in the news constantly and if you’re still (somehow) undecided what better way to keep up with them than by searching. Not to mention anyone that wants to make a meme about them.

Absolutely. When talking search results, the vast majority of searches will be for the top two candidates for POTUS in a few months.

I would bet the majority of Americans don’t know Wray or Garland, but damn near everyone has heard of Trump and Biden. I don’t even know who Wray is, so I’m certainly not going to search for him.

The post I replied to was basically saying it’s likely that a large swath of the public would search for all these people. My comment was that most don’t know who Wray and Garland are. You are arguing my point.

F.B.I. officials told members of Congress on Wednesday that the gunman who tried to kill former President Donald J. Trump used his cellphone to search for images of Mr. Trump and President Biden, along with a wide array of public figures.

According to a person on conference calls with lawmakers, the gunman, Matthew Crooks, also searched for dates of Mr. Trump’s appearances and the Democratic National Convention.

Seems like he was looking to take out both Trump and Biden.

Obviously that never would’ve happened, but holy shit that would’ve made for a unique election cycle.

It’s like the dude saw the meme after the debate that said:

Live Biden > Biden corpse > Trump corpse > live Trump

and thought “yeah, I should make that happen.”

More pertinent information released from FBI and reported from major news organizations:

    “Groceries found in suspects home”

    “Suspect wore underwear”

“Suspect may have woken up the morning of the attack”

Exactly, it’s part of everyone’s routine to Google the dates of Trump’s appearances and the DNC before heading off to an assassination attempt. Totally normal stuff.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

According to a person on conference calls with lawmakers, the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, also searched for dates of Mr. Trump’s appearances and the Democratic National Convention.

The disclosures, during private briefings to lawmakers in the House and Senate, offered more detail about a gunman with no criminal history.

Among the other famous figures the gunman searched for: Mr. Wray himself, Attorney General Merrick B. Garland and a member of the British royal family, according to two officials with knowledge of the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the matter publicly.

Officials singled out some of the searches on one of his cellphones — the device he left in his residence — saying that he had looked up “major depressive disorder,” according to the person on the calls.

Some senators left their call angry with the Secret Service after learning that the gunman was identified as suspicious more than an hour before the shooting.

No one has taken responsibility,” Senator John Barrasso, Republican of Wyoming, said in a statement, adding, “The head of the Secret Service needs to go.”

The original article contains 362 words, the summary contains 182 words. Saved 50%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
