Since other commenters aren’t bothering to look into it at all:

Cuba says it has disrupted a scheme in Russia to recruit Cuban citizens to fight in Ukraine.

In a statement, Cuba’s Foreign Ministry called the alleged plan a human trafficking ring. It said Cubans, both in Russia and on the island, had been recruited to fight in Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Cuba is actively trying to prevent this.

If at this point anybody willingly accepts any job in muscovy, they deserve everything that will happen to them.

Part of the problem is they’re being lied to on what exactly their job is. This has been reported on previously. The job description was never a soldier. It’s blatant human trafficking and slave soldiering.

Look, ruskies have been hiring in Cuba, India, Nepal and elsewhere for well over a year now. If they don’t know what’s going on, it’s only because of ignorance.

Ignorance kills. In this case quite literally.

You act like poor people in Cuba and India have the same access to global information as you and I do. I don’t think that’s the case. Poverty and desperation is on another level in these areas.

Victim-blaming by saying it’s a matter of ignorance is like saying she was asking for it.

If it’s like their recruitment in India, it’s promises of big bonuses and “no, you won’t be fighting, you’ll be driving a truck in Kursk” or whatever.

Spoiler: they’ll be sent to fight on the front line and killed before they get that pay.

The Cuban government is actively trying to stop this recruitment. The job postings people are responding to are fake.
