Why do conservatives want to set fashion society back 70 years? To wear some pompous dress?

Remember in the 50s when no one got divorced? Instead -

Husbands would go to work all day in the city, wife at home with the kids. He has to “work late”, stays over in his secret second apartment to bang his mistress. His wife leaving a dinner made on the side, to go to waste.

She has to have a stiff upper lip, pretend she doesnt know whats going on.

He comes home the next day. Stinking of booze and cheap perfume. Not his wifes, but she knows it anyway - he comes back regularly with that smell.

After slamming multiple whiskeys, he gets handsy. He wants his wife.

“No” is not in his vocabulary. She is his wife. He can do as he pleases.

She pulls away, slightly. He grabs her and back hands her. She needs to learn her place

This is the world tradwives and republicans want to go back to.

Life is hard and the being a sugar baby slave is easy.

It’s just another example of how conservativeism is fucking stupid.

I agree with all of this but don’t bring fashion into it. Those 50s housewife dresses are gorgeous, flattering for all shapes and sizes, and been a staple in the commercial alt fashion scene for decades! So I can understand how it crosses political divide lol

Please not the mandatory heels and hair though. Mandatory anything.

…But that’s the whole point, isn’t it? They want to make this mandatory for all women, not an affirmative choice.

No one gives a shit if you choose to be a trad wife, as long as it’s a choice, and not something that’s being requried.

They don’t think of it this way. They only think about the movies and TV shoes. Plus, it’s a path to be an influencer, which to some seems glamorous.

It’s ridiculous and harmful but personally I don’t think they’ll understand that until they’ve experienced it. And I don’t doubt that many already have, but they don’t know how to leave.

Okay, so, just reacting to the headline, here:

Is it not understood that tradwives are, in fact, a type of conservative?

Uhhh… Yeeees but also not exactly. Women can stay at home and cook/clean/childcare without claiming the title of “tradwife” even though that’s basically what she’s doing. I guess stay at home mom would be the politically neutral term.

What sets these handmaids apart is that they’re peddling this domestic servitude bullshit to the masses.

Yeah, these women seem to have a closeted submission kink that they mistake for a political opinion. They would probably be much happier in a consensual BDSM relationship instead of looking for misogynist men to fulfill their delusional fantasy of a realistically impossible lifestyle.

Seriously. It seems like its all of fetish thing mixed in with traditional lying on social media. Seems like a great way to get money from dumb men

I’ll bet tradwives wouldn’t be so happy with their lot in life if their fathers had sold them for 30 shekels and a goat.

So… tolerate and celebrate everyone’s lifestyle unless they want a traditional lifestyle, in which case mock them? These ladies are making a choice for themselves about how they want to live. It doesn’t impact you in the slightest.

You are right that we should respect everyone’s life choices, but you should read the article before commenting. This is not an attack on a lifestyle choice or on how some people want to live, this is an attack on influencers with a political agenda: An agenda to reduce every women’s rights.
