California Forever, the billionaire-backed development company behind the proposal, announced Monday that it would withdraw its measure and instead follow the standard county process for approval.
California Forever CEO Jan Sramek and Solano County Board of Supervisors Chair Mitch Mashburn issued a joint statement detailing the shift. Sramek acknowledged that moving forward without a comprehensive environmental impact report and a development agreement was a mistake. “This politicized the entire project, made it difficult for us and our staff to work with them, and forced everyone in our community to take sides,” Mashburn said.
“Oh, you mean we have to follow the rules? I didn’t know that was a thing.”
Exactly. Thank you.
