They could have gotten home from their trip and had to be at work first thing Monday morning. Instead they get plenty of vitamin D and fresh air.
You can take the psychosomatic approach and assume Bob’s lifespan will be shorter due to stress and shame. Or the psychosocial approach and assume the other guy’s lifespan will be shorter, because one day Bob’s gonna snap and kill him.
Or the optimistic approach: they’re about to be saved in the next panel.
Since its the farside its more likely the ship in that panel will misinterpret their celebration as telling them to go away and keep on sailing by.
