That’s generally the case with dictators. Only Taiwan grew from a dictatorship into a working democracy. Maduro is nothing but a dictator. Venezuela has insane amounts of oil, gas and gold, it should be an extremely rich oil state like Qatar or the UAE but Marudo prefers to fill his own pockets and starve his people while money is worth less then the paper it’s printed on.

My guy, the reason they aren’t rich is because of US embargoes on their oil. The type of oil they produce is dirty and extremely expensive to refine, The US is the closest trading partner with refining capabilities that their crude oil requires.

Yeah. And the embargoes are only because it’s hard to refine and dirty? Or because Maduro is a greedy asshole dictator? Do you know how embargoes work?

My guy you said Venezuela is poor because Maduro is lining his pockets, while that is a falsehood, Venezuela is poor because of US sanctions and the fact that they operate a single resource economy extremely reliant on the price of Oil.

So, you’re saying the sanctions are just there because whatever, not because Maduro is a dictator who prefers to keep power and money over Venezuelan welfare and international affairs?

Why do you think the sanctions are there exactly? For shits and giggles?

The sanctions are a response to Maduro being a selfish dictator. Is it really that hard to see the connection?

Why are you defending him? Are you a Venezuelan government employee or something?

I am being critical because the USA, which has supported multiple dictators in the global south that have done far worse than Maduro, not excusing his actions, just pointing out the fact that the country is suffering under sanctions and a dictator. While the USA would be turning a blind eye if Maduro was a puppet of the United States.

Look, the US is bad, no doubt about it, but Maduro is a dictator who keeps his country fucked up. Don’t blame it on the US, he is responsible for getting the sanctions and keeping the sanctions. Those sanctions aren’t just by the US, many countries adhere them because Maduro is a dangerous asshole.

South Korea was a fascist state until their dictator got assassinated by the South Korean CIA and liberalized under American pressure.

At my old company I worked really closely with a coworker who was Venezuelan and he loathed Maduro. Saw him as a dictator and unrightful president that was creating problems in the country

Seeing which other leaders support or reject this has been telling and I hope the voters in those countries are paying attention. Boric and Lacalle respect the rule of law, Castro and Arce do not.
