Government power to interpret Congressional statutes? No sir!
Government power to ban firearms? No sir!
Government power to limit religious influence in public schools? No sir!
Government power to distort voting districts to ensure partisan outcomes? A-OK!
Government power to restrict maternal healthcare? A-OK!
Government power to criminalize homelessness? A-OK!
Conservatives care about one thing, and one thing only: ceding power to in groups and stripping power from out groups. Small government for me, big government for thee. “Originalism” is a method for armoring existing and historical power structures, and “conservatism” is the weapon which can be selectively deployed against anything that undermines or weakens those power structures.
