Let me start by saying I’m not competitive and don’t care about who wins or how many points anyone has scored, I just participate for the in game currency and if the mini game is fun, then for that.
Now to my observation - I know there has been a lot of speculation about the groupings of the teams and that blues just have more people so they’re getting more points. I generally barely register the overall results or those of a race and just wait for the pop up to go away so I can go get the medal.
But today I noticed something - there were two different shapes of blue cape in the end result. I didn’t manage to get a screenshot of course, and the few times I tried to replicate this it didn’t happen again (and all the capes, even if duplicate colour were the same shape), but I’m wondering, especially since we often only see greyed out capes in the results so maybe this has somehow gone under the radar, if they had intended to have 5 teams, to go with 5 Olympic rings (and the 5th realm most people run - vault), but for whatever reason the 5th team go absorbed in to blue, which is why there are so many more people in it.
Has anyone else seen anything like this? I know this isn’t the biggest pool of players to ask, but I’m don’t really use any of the other platforms where people talk abut Sky (beyond lurking some on reddit).
Anyway, just an observation and my personal conspiracy to go with it lol
Conspiracy theorists unite!
I gotta say, I do have some difficulties believing this conspiracy though, and this is coming from someone that believes the true intent behind Sky is to create the perfect money-making scheme that exploits the ultimate human addiction: friendships.👽
For example: If they planned for a 5th team, why was the cape a different shade of blue instead of let’s say purple (Isle of Dawn, LTP area/vault)? Knowing that this is their first competitive event, why would they not reassign the “purple” team members to each team equally, knowing full well that a team comprised of two team is so obviously unbalanced? We need a motive!
On the other hand, it is really weird that the blue team is winning by a lot, considering that the player doesn’t have much impact on its own and the teams are assigned at random…👽

Well, your theory isn’t at all hard to believe, so the bar isn’t that high 😂

I don’t think it was ever just another shade of blue, if we go by the Olympic rings, the missing colour would be black. And it would more make sense, too:
- Yellow - prairie
- Green - forest
- Red - valley
- Black - wasteland
- Blue - vault
(I don’t think Isle of Dawn because it’s left out of dailies so I assume it’s not considered a “full” realm)
My guess is, for whatever reason - aesthetics/number crunching/some other practicality they decided at some point before beta release to narrow it down and reassign the colours (wasteland does have a green glow, but surely forest makes the most sense being green, for example), and somewhere in the code remained the ghost of the 5th team, the black team, and that that is what screwed up the sorting mechanism which resulted in blue being a much bigger team (maybe a relic in the code where instead of removing black capes, someone just changed them to blue, I don’t know, got no idea how these things work, but considering they’ve managed to screw up gravity only in select locations in the game, I wouldn’t put it past them lol).
I can’t think of another reason (a relic from an earlier version) there would be a different shaped blue cape in the results, when all the other capes are the same, and know it sounds like I’ve imagined it, so I will keep trying to see if I can get a screenshot of it to prove it’s real 😂

Straight through my heart💀
But true, black would be a much better fit for the fifth team! Now that I think of it, it was weird from the start that forest got the colour blue…
Anyways, one thing’s for sure, for the rest of the tournament you won’t see me blink during the results screen👁️👄👁️

Haha, sorry! 😂

Right?

Me neither! I’m determined to get a screenshot of this anomaly I saw, even if it proves nothing except that I didn’t imagine it🤣🤣
I was wrong!
I just did the skating tournament and lit everyone so I could see the capes and one of the players had on the nine coloured deer cape on instead of a team cape so I got a hunch, and sure enough, at the end of the race their little cape icon was that of the deer cape! I did take a screen, but must have got in a millisecond too late because it’s just us standing there at the end of the race 😂😂
I had a scroll through the capes on the wiki and I can’t be 100% sure which it was, but the blue cape I saw could definitely be one of them, possibly the switch cape, so my best guess is that “special” capes override the event cape, down to the little icon, and the fact that one is blue, and the other is yellow (but much more distinct and hard to confuse with other capes) was a complete coincidence.
I still think 5 realm teams to go with the 5 olympic rings would have been cool lol
Damn…even without the screenshot that still sounds pretty convincing and this seems to be solved, thanks for the follow-up and the “research”!
After your initial post I got curious and did an informal experiment as well: I joined the tournament with three old accounts of mine. The first one got assigned to the blue team, the second to yellow and the third to green. So, if the sorting is unbalanced, then atleast it isn’t blatantly unbalanced. Sample size: 3 accounts😆
😂
E: and just more confirmation, I just spotted on reddit another screen grab someone took with a non-tournament cape and its icon.
