Lol, it’s now nearly 4am and I have been awake for about 2 hours, after having fallen asleep around 11pm but waking up desperate to pee. I’m waiting for some food to heat up and will be having my main hot meal of the day within about an hour, before going back to sleep for 4 hours at most before I need to pee again.

The alternative is being too tired to have any food or drink earlier in the day so sleeping through for like 12 hours, only to wake up feeling more tired and weak than ever.

Each option will normally snowball over several days until they switch for a few days/couple of weeks and then back again.

The chronic pain-chronic fatigue-weak bladder combo sure makes for fun times! 🙄

  • What the fuck actual fuck BBC???

What is being further normalised, in big part by articles like this, is rape culture.

Fantasies have always existed, as has the requirement for consent for an act to be sex rather than rape. End of.

Seriously, she was drugged by her husband and raped by over 70 men, that never has been, never will be motherfucking “normal”, what the actual fuck?!?!?!? And who the fuck is not only thinking up the above garbage, but also the people above them reading it and approving it for publication?! (Edit, in case it isn’t clear: This is rhetorical, none of this is really surprising, the media’s influence on rape culture is pretty well established, and the BBC have a pretty consistent history of platforming and covering up for known rapists)

Honestly, the reaction to this case (including any and all variation of “not all men”, like “it’s borderline offensive that people think less of men”, as if A. this is happening in a vacuum and B. men are the real victims here and need to be prioritised, hint: you fucking don’t, call in your peers or shut the fuck up, this isn’t about you. If you feel personally attacked by any of this, you’re telling on yourself) has been as enraging and telling of our rotten society as the case itself.

    Fuck this shit.

Ron’s Gone Wrong (2021) just finished on tv as I scrolled past this post, parts feel directly ripped off from Big Hero 6, not bad, but nothing too amazing.

Also watched Baby Done (2020) with Rose Matafeo who I love, which was fun if a little heteronormative. Got a great gif out of it though, thanks for the reminder:

    spoiler

My baby's going to be...Brown! chocolate gender reveal cake

    .

I also started watching The Ghost Goes West (1935) earlier today but nodded off halfway through, not sure I’m missing much in terms of plot, but I might try and watch the whole thing through if I get the chance, just to see how Florida was portrayed lol

And then… Then there was Triangle of Sadness (2022) - private yacht going liberal Hollywood sniffing its own farts pretending to be at the vanguard of progressive thinking, or in the immortally centrist words of its creator: “I am equally as hard on the poor as I am on the rich”, which tells you everything you need to know really. Much like current events- there are brief and fleeting moments where the true villain/s get a minor sampling of what they deserve, but ultimately they still come out on top, and only after the victim is portrayed as the real villain (because the creators, and the privileged in general, can’t imagine another way, only the tables being directly turned, and their victims treating them the way they treat their victims), before the status quo, which was never under any real threat, is restored and liberalism wins once again lmao. The fact that it’s being lauded as some ingenious political satire is deeply depressing.

E: I also watched films like Junior and Sister act, and some of the other 90’s classics that are regularly on tv, but I’m sure no one needs introducing to them, and I also feel like I’m missing some other lesser known films, but my brain is a bit of a sieve lol (E3: to prove my point: I’d completely forgotten I’d watched Everything Everywhere All at Once, and definitely not because it was forgettable lol)

E2: also the latest Jurassic Park sequel is on tonight against fuck all else, so I’ll be watching that, followed by Ferris Bueller’s Day Off lol

  • I’m in the UK, we have the NHS, and several “sin taxes”, and they still pretty much exclusively penalise the poor (as does the NHS which has been defunded to oblivion in favour of rampant privatisation, so those who can’t afford to go private are left with the ruins), while those selling the “sinful” products (and private health insurance) continue to rake it in.

There is no taxing or legislating or regulating our way our of capitalism, which is exclusively responsible for those in power exchanging the health and well being of the population and the planet for profit, and they will never allow any tax or legislation or regulation to pass that would put them at any kind of disadvantage. The fact that some people still think they would, is frankly quite terrifying.

He also wouldn’t have made it to this point alive were he Black, nor would he have the same kind of support had he previously spoken out about Black liberation or the Land Back movement for example, rather than how “wokeism” is the cause of racism.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - him shooting a CEO was good and inspiring, putting anyone up on a pedestal, starting a cult of personality, and ignoring some or all of the different systems of oppression at play, is definitely not.

  • we need a good candidate to fix our problems

As long as you continue to expect playing within the rules those in power have set out for you to free you from their system, you are wasting your time and energy, exactly as intended.

Electoral politics are nothing but theatre and a sham designed specifically to ensure the people have no power to structurally change society.

Stop expecting it, and someone else you place in it to “represent” you, to save you.

  • We’re also no strangers to rich cunts dominating our politics. Musk is child’s play compared to the damage the Murdoch’s have rought on our shores…

Don’t forget the original rich cunts that have never stopped dominating our politics (despite swarms of bootlickers insisting they don’t get involved despite masses of evidence to the contrary) - the royals and their gentry.

I get that OP is trying to do a good thing, it’s a nice gesture, but it also feels like they’ve only just now started paying attention, while some of us, especially on this more left leaning site, have been aware of and dealing with how fucked we (as Brits, but also as a global working class) are for quite a while longer (and no, I don’t mean Thatcher-Reagan, but much further back).

Trump isn’t the problem, he is a symptom, and focusing on him is counterproductive - if he died tomorrow (🤞🤞🤞) or got jailed for his crimes (never going to happen) nothing would change, because the systems that enabled and encouraged him to the top will remain in tact and continue chugging along uninterrupted, pushing the next wannabe dictator to the top.

Abolish capitalism. Abolish monarchy. Abolish the state. Abolish hierarchy.

It’s the only way out with some hope at the other end.
